On October 9, 1907 he filed for a US Navy Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #12605, Certificate #5950).
He was member #40 of the London Branch of American Civil War members. They were not affiliated to the Grand Army of the Republic but followed their principles. The London Branch was formed on September 20th 1910 in Bermondsey South London, and Benjamin answered the call to join among 59 other veterans. It seems he returned to the United States in about 1917.
He died at the United States Naval Asylum in Philadelphia.
