He was born Jan. 19, 1930, in Logansport, the son of George E. and Zelia Cress Baer.
A freight conductor for 42 years, Baer started with the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired in 1992 from ConRail. He was a member of Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 40 et 8, and the American Legion.
Baer was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, LuAnne Graves, Baytown, Texas; four sons, Greg, Jeff, and Ben, all of Logansport, and Brian of Camden; five sisters; Luila Berkshire, Fort Wayne, Mary Emery, Twelve Mile, and Rita Parkins, Evelyn Byers, and Marcella Rist, all of Logansport; three brothers, Emery and Bob, both of Logansport, and Al of Elkhart; and nine grandchildren.
Burial, with military rites, was Friday in Davis Cemetery.
