He died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, In White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
Born Sept. 16, 1911, in Logansport, he was the son of Edward Peter and is Elizabeth Miller Baker. He was married to Martha A. McCarter, who survives.
A graduate of St. Joseph Commercial School in Logansport, he was employed as a repairman in the service department of David's Hardware, Logansport, for 27 years.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Logansport Eagles Lodge #323.
Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Army as a tech 5th grade during World War II. He received from the EAME Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Distinguished Unit Citation. He served in Normandy, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes.
Also surviving are one son, Gary T. Baker and his wife, Janet, Chiefland, Fla.; one daughter, Karen Morgan and her husband, Steve, Logansport; and one sister, Margaret Reynolds, Monticello; four grandchildren, Marianne Jeff, Amy, and Heather; seven great-grandchildren, Ben, Katie, Elizabeth, Amanda, Katie, Kellie, and Jerin.
Three sisters preceded in death.
Father Michael McKinney will officiate at the services. Burial, with military graveside rights, will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in Marocco Funeral Chapel, where the Eagles Lodge will hold services at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.
