Born in Farmington Twsp, Venango [now Clarion] Co, Pennsylvania.

Married Sarah Martha TAYLOR 22d 9m 1870 in Lindley Twsp, Mercer Co, Missouri.

Federal Census 1900 for Missouri: Mercer County, Lindley Twsp Pg. 8 Line 61 150/156 Robert HAGAN age 50 born 6m 1850 [sic] in Pennsylvania to parents from the same was a farmer and a stockman who owned his land free and clear. Wife Sarah age 48 born 2m 1852 [sic] in Indiana [sic again] to parents from Virginia [correct] was the mother of seven children as follows: James S. age 20 born 10m 1879, William age 18 born 8m 1881, Ross age 15 born 5m 1885, daughter Fleety age 12 born 8m 1887, Earnest age 10 born 9m 1889, Gladys age 9 born 6m 1890 [sic] and son Coy age 5 born 8m 1894. Since Robert & Sarah had been married for 30 years it should be obvious that the number of seven children being born to Sarah is wrong because it is leaving out her eldest children who had been married by 1900. [These returns also leave out the fact that Sarah had an infant son who died stillborn back in 1884.]

Federal Census 1910 for Missouri: Mercer County, Lindley Twsp Pg. 5B Line 58 103/103 Robert W. HAGAN age 62 born in Pennsylvania to parents from the same is a farmer who owned his land free and clear. Wife Sarah age 59 was born in Virginia to parents from the same. She was the mother of thirteen children of whom eleven were living. Those still at home were Ernest C. age 20, Gladys J. age 18, and Coy V. age 15; all born in Missouri. Robert & Sarah had been married for 39 years. Their immediate next door neighbor Ross HAGAN & wife Pearle (line 63 104/104) was their son and immediately after him was John E. ROCKEY (line 67 105/105) their son-in-law and wife Effie M. their daugther.
