I bought Whiskers with my own money that I saved from Birthday and Christmas gifts. I paid $50 dollars for him when he was a weanling. I raised him and trained him to ride and drive and to stretch out his legs so I could get on him bareback (without a saddle). He was a big bay gelding and was 16 hands tall (5 ft. 4 inches).

Whiskers got sick soon after I bought him and I found him lying in the pasture. My dad told me if I found him and he wouldn't get up to hold his nostrils shut and he would fight to get up. He did and I had Whiskers for many years. I rode Whiskers over many miles of roads near my parents home and also participated in several parades and horse shows. I had to sell Whiskers after I bought my first Quarter Horse mare but he will always be the best horse I ever had.
