John H. "Johnny" was the son of Ben T. and Lula K. Pennington. Johnny was in WWII. The last letter he wrote home, he told about marching past his brother Jim's tank, but couldn't stop to say hello. In that battle Johnny was killed and Jim captured by the Germans. After the war Jim came home.

Johnny rode the same school bus with me and my sister to Webb-Swan Lake Consolidated School, Webb, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. He was three years older than me. He was good looking with a mischievous gleam in his eye and a devilish smile. He enjoyed teasing the younger girls.
