|Birth: ||Oct. 10, 1760, Germany|
|Death: ||Oct. 10, 1850|
DIRECT FAMILY and has names and dates of my records and choosing! Be aware that there were two Peter Bowyers; this one was NOT CAPTAIN Peter Bowyer. Since a slash-connected name like Beier/Bowyer cannot be found without knowing it, I'll give Peter Bowyer "Beier" as his "maiden" name.
Genealogical work has been coordinated with X-cousins in Indiana who joined Daughters of the American Revolution through Peter Bowyer, and found to be correct to their records.
Was matross in Revolutionary War and is person most of my own family members in DAR/SAR have joined through.
Family name was originally spelled Beier/Beyer in Germany & Pennsylvania, but changed when family went to live among English (not French, which is why our family name did not end up as "Boyer") in Virginia; son of John Jacob & Elizabeth Lesh/Lesch Beier/Bowyer.
Had a first wife named Eva by whom he had children Elizabeth in 1791 and Jacob in 1793; married Catherine Shellman 16AUG1793 so 1st wife must've died around birth of son Jacob in 1793.
Died on his own 90th birthday. Buried in Mays Cemetery, Cass County, Indiana of which he donated* the larger portion that was Bowyer land in Miami County; the cemetery straddles the dividing line.
*data from "History of Cass County, Indiana: from its earliest settlement to the present time, with biographical sketches"; page 687.
