Tom Borgialli, 82 year old long time Johnson County rancher, passed away suddenly Friday afternoon while working cows on his ranch.
Thomas John Borgialli was born on November 18, 1931 in the Orville Stevens house in Newcastle, Wyoming to Charley and Ruth Borgialli. He went to grade school, first through eighth grade, at the Borgialli School west of Newcastle on the family ranch. He attended Newcastle High School and graduated with the class of 1951. After high school he received a scholarship to play football at Chadron College in Nebraska. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and served during the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge in 1954 and returned to Wyoming where he worked in the oil fields. He was married on March 1, 1956 in Buffalo to Mary Lou Arno and they made their home in Newcastle until June of 1957 when they moved to Buffalo and bought a ranch on Clear Creek. They lived, worked and raised seven children in Johnson County and he was still working the ranch at the time of his death.
Tom rode rough stock in rodeos all four years of high school and was active in high school football and track. He was a musician and played guitar at dances at the Clarenton Community Hall in Newcastle. He belonged to the 49'ers club, was an election judge, and served on the Weed and Pest Board and the Lake DeSmet Conservation Board for many years. Tom liked restoring old cars, dancing, helping his neighbors and loved spending time with his family. He especially liked attending all the activities of his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Lou of Buffalo; five sons, Dan Borgialli (Tonia) of Buffalo, Craig Borgialli (Ann) of Brooksville, Florida, James Borgialli (Jean) of Buffalo, John Borgialli of Missoula, Montana and Dave Borgialli (Rachel) of Sheridan; two daughters Jane Ann Carr (Fred) of Kaycee and Shirley Bauer (Barry) of Clearmont; one brother Robert H. Borgialli of Buffalo; two sisters, Hazel Johnson of Four Corners, Wyoming and Dorothy Bartlet of Pittsburgh, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Harry and Bill.
