Rock Musician. Born in Hereford, England, he was best known as a guitarist and founding member of the rock band The Pretenders. After several rehearsals and recording sessions, Scott officially joined the group as lead guitarist in 1980. His original and versatile style is credited in helping to shape the early 1980s new wave movement. He also co-wrote a number of songs for the band such as "Talk of the Town", "Brass in Pocket" and "Precious". He died in London, England, of heart failure caused by cocaine intolerance at age 25. His gravestone is inscribed "Love is Everything. It is the key to life, and its influences are those that move the world. Forever in our hearts". In 2005, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Pretenders.
