He was the husband of Ada Belle Merriott Decker DeNota, the adopted father of Roy Vacil Painter DeNota, and the father of Betty Jean DeNota Martinek, Rosalie Mae DeNota Ferguson, and Rose Marie DeNota, the latter of whom preceded her parents in death at the age of 20.
