A baby found Friday in a women's bathroom at West Texas A&M University will be buried at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery.

"Baby Jane Doe" was estimated to be up to five months developed, but it's not clear if it was a viable fetus or the baby was stillborn, Randall County Justice of the Peace E. Jay Hail said after talking with the Lubbock physician who did the autopsy.

The baby, which looked like a fully developed little girl, weighed 2 pounds, said Billie Carson of Holley Funeral Home in Canyon.

The funeral home is handling the burial with a graveside service at the Amarillo cemetery.

No criminal charges are pending against the mother, who has not been found, said Hail and Meri Lyn Odell, WT director of police administration.

Lab studies to determine what, if any, chemicals or drugs were in the body are still pending in Lubbock, and criminal charges may or may not be filed, Hail said. Hail said authorities are worried about the mother's physical and mental state during the Christmas season.

"There's nothing conclusive; we don't have all of the facts yet," Hail said.

'We are not looking for a suspect, we are looking for a mother who has had a miscarriage, " he said.

WT spokeswoman Dana Olmstead said the baby was found in a commode in the Jack B. Kelley Student Center.

Randall County is paying for the burial, but the funeral home is providing the flowers, Carson said.

The body has been embalmed and placed in a tiny casket, Carson said.

Randall County pays $430 to $570 for pauper funerals, said Joella McPherson, Randall County auditor. The county paid $4,140 during fiscal year 2001 for such funerals, she said.
