We adopted Dillon, an Irish Setter, when my sister found him eating out of a garbage dumpster in 1978. He was a beautiful dog and we couldn't figure out why anyone would give him up.
A couple of weeks later I notice his breathing sounded strange so took him to the vet. The doctor said he had heart worms and would have endure a risky serious procedure. So we put him through those and being a fighter he came through fine.
He was quite the character! Full of energy and humor and very smart. He'd climb up on people's lap like he was a small lap dog and loved sleeping in bed with me.
A couple of years later we had to give Dillon away because we were moving out of state. We gave him a farmer in Iowa and his 9 year old son.
I'm sure he was happy as a pup because he had alot of room to run and he loved kids.
