BOB B. CRAWFORD
---Bob B. Crawford, age 87 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (September 11, 2013) at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
---Born November 9, 1925, in La Plata, Missouri, he was the son of Ernest and Mary (Newton) Crawford. On July 24, 1946, in Kirksville, Missouri, he was married to Elma B. Sweikert, who preceded him in death on February 11, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jean Crawford and Gerald Crawford.
---Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Joyce Crawford of La Plata, Missouri; and one daughter and son-in-law, Steve and Merrill Sagaser of Atlanta, Missouri; two sisters, Marjorie Eitel of Kansas City, Missouri and Marilyn Cannady of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, Noel Crawford of La Plata, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jeff Crawford, Scott Crawford, Jennifer (Sagaser) Whitlow, Stacie (Sagaser) Moon, Aimee Sagaser and five great grandchildren.
---Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944-1946. Upon his discharge, he returned to La Plata where he worked as a rural mail carrier for 31 years. He and Elma purchased a farm northwest of La Plata and enjoyed farming and raising livestock. His military service was honored in 2009 with a trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., courtesy of the Honor Flight program.
---Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:30 pm. Burial, with full military honors, will be held at Park View Memorial Garden in Kirksville, Missouri.
---Friends and family are invited for refreshment and fellowship at the La Plata Legion Hall after the burial.
