---J.L. Dehner, age 70, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday (August 10, 1995) at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri. Born September 27, 1924, near Novelty, Missouri, he was the son of James Arthur and Ona Blanche (Simmons) Dehner. On February 24, 1945, in La Plata, Missouri, he married Mary Ann Tonkinson, who survives.
---Also surviving are two sons, David Lee Dehner and wife Judy of Parkville, Missouri, and James Mark Dehner and wife Peggy of Byron, Illinois; three sisters Amogene Browning and husband Harold of Novelty, Missouri, Betty Pike and husband Don of Washington, Missouri, and Jeanette Foreman and husband Gerald of Edina, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Bryan, Jennifer, Christina, Serena, and Allison Dehner.
---He was preceded in death by his parents.
---Mrs. Dehner was a graduate of the Novelty High School, and later attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. The remainder of his life was spent in LaPlata where he was a business man. He was employed by Crop Production Services from 1964 to 1994. He was a member of the LaPlata American Legion, LaPlata Masonic Lodge, the ARARAT Temple of Kansas City, Missouri, and was a member of the LaPlata Christian Church.
---Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (August 13, 1995) at the LaPlata Christian Church, LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be the Reverend Richard Woods. Music will be provided by Janis Mitten playing and singing "Wind Beneath My Wings." Burial will be in the LaPlata Cemetery, LaPlata, Missouri.
---Pallbearers will be Louis Berrey, Tom Warner, Kevin Foreman, Wilson Belt, Jim Bragg, and Ralph Kluseman.
---Honorary pallbearers will be Don Mason, Don Glasgow, Bob Miles, Lloyd Burch, Clifford Rolison, and Joe Harding.
