The following is taken from "THE COMPANY ROLL, With a Brief Comment Upon Each Member of COMPANY I, 7th Cavarly Missouri Volunteers" by Sergeant John Shaver, Kirksville, Missouri - 1898, page 10:
Francis M. Curtis was Uncle Sam's son,
When the war first broke out Frank shouldered his gun,
But his lungs proved too weak, not his heart though, you bet
So he took a discharge and is living still yet.
