OBITUARY
---Jacob Bruner was born in Martin county, Ind., January 12, 1828; he came to Adair county, MO., in 1850, his home had been for several years in Kirksville where he died March 21, 1903, aged 75 years, 2 months and 9 days. He was married to Eliza Cline in 1872. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Mary Britt, of Sublette, and Mr. W.J. Bruner.
---He enlisted in the 27th MO. Infantry in 1862 and served his country for three years. He united with the M. E. church in early life and continued steadfast in the faith, and when life was ebbing out he said, "I am satisfied," and when asked if he was going to heaven he said, "Yes, I am in the hands of God."
---He was quiet and unassuming in his profession, but was always ready to do what he could to advance the course of his Lords. The funeral service was held at Cater Memorial chapel and burial in the cemetery near by.
