WILLIAM CUPP, 76, RESIDENT HERE SINCE 1910, DIES HERE THURSDAY
William Lee Cupp, 76, died last Thursday evening at the Cottage Hotel, where he resided in La Plata.
Mr. Cupp, a retired railroad worker, was born Apr. 23, 1879 in Knox County, the son of Howell D. and Mary (Saling) Cupp.
Mr. Cupp was raised southeast of Nickelton and in 1910 moved to La Plata. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for several years, with his service interrupted by his enlistment in the U.S. Army during WWI and spent some time overseas. Besides his employment on the railroad, he also worked on the farm and for a time was employed by the pipeline.
Mr. Cupp is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Martha Francis of La Plata, and Mrs. Emma Shearer of Kirksville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brohters and seven sisters.
He was a member of the La Plata Chapter of the American Legion.
Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Home. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery with a full guard of honor and military rites by the La Plata American Legion at the gravesite.
