OSCAR BOLEY, ARMY VERERAN, DIED, AGED 46
Former Deputy Sheriff's Funeral at Yarrow Wednesday.

---Oscar B. Boley, 46, former deputy sheriff here, died at 11:20 o'clock last night at his home, 1917 S. First Street. Mr. Boley had been in failing health the past six years, but had been bedfast only three weeks before his death. Three years ago, Mr. Boley received a broken neck vertebra when an automobile in which he was riding turned over north of Lancaster, but was able to return to his work.
---Born in Kirksville, October 24, 1896, Mr. Boley was the son of George and Martha Boley. When he was a young boy, he moved with his parents to Yarrow where he attended school. Mr. Boley was engaged in farming in the vicinity of Yarrow and operated a garage in Yarrow.
---January 9, 1918, at Kirksville, he married the former Bessie Prather, of Yarrow. Mr. Boley served in the Army during World War I, and was a member of the American Legion. While living at Yarrow, Mr. Boley was appointed deputy sheriff under Charles Novinger. He also served as constable of that village.
---Six years ago, Mr. Boley and his family moved to Kirksville. Mr. Boley was employed by the Farmers Exchange for three years and then as a salesman for the Riebel Garage. Serving as deputy sheriff under Robert Love, Mr. Boley later served as constable, policeman, and as night man at the police station. For the past year, because of his failing health, he had been engaged in farming.
---Surviving, besides his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Florence Lawson, of 602 West Illinois Street, and Miss Ruby Boley, at home; three sons, Richard Boley, of 414 W. Illinois Street and Glen and Cecil Boley, also living at home; a sister, Mrs. Daisy Wood, of Kirksville; a brother, Harrison Boley, of Yarrow; a half-brother, William Boley, of Elmer, and a granddaughter, Connie Kay Boley of 414 W. Illinois Street. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Boley was a member of the Church of God on North Florence Street.
---The body will lie in state at the Summers and Powell Funeral Home until this evening when it will be taken to the home to lie in state until the funeral which will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Yarrow Church. Interment will be made in the Yarrow Cemetery.

Oscar Boley married Bessie Florence Prather on January 9, 1918 at Kirksville, Missouri and they had the following children:
1) Florence Eva Boley Lowe
2) Richard Levi Boley
3) Ruby Irene Boley Phillips, b. 1924
4) Glen Robert Boley
5) Cecil Oscar Boley
