WILLIAM D. DALE
---William Donald Dale was born March 17, 1892 and died July 17, 1947 at the age of fifty-five years and four months. He had been in apparent good health until a few months before he died. He had always been very industrious and had worked all day until he died at 8:55 p.m.
---His father had been a merchant in Elmer for many years and Mr. Dale grew to manhood here. He had been raised in a good Christian home and attended the Baptist Church with his parents regularly. He also became a member of the Elmer Baptist church.
---He was married to Miss Della Mae Davison in July, 1919 who preceded him in death January 1, 1941. To this union one boy was born, William Donald of Houston, Texas.
---He was later married to Mrs. Marquerite Green on August 6, 1942.
---During World War I he served his country in the Navy twenty-five months. He was a member of the American Legion in the Carter-Hower Post #23.
---He was away from the community a few years but returned to accept the position of Postmaster here in January, 1941, which duties he faithfully discharged until his death.
---He is survived by his wife who was at this side when he died; his only son, William Donald of Houston, Texas; his mother, Mr. Mary A. Dale of Boonville, Missouri; one sister, Mrs. George Reesman of Boonville; one brother, E.L. Dale of Prince Rypert, British Columbia; two step-daughters, Mrs. Donna McCullough of Arlington, Virginia and Mrs. Connie Rhoades of Elmer; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Michael Dale of Houston, Texas.
---One brother, A. Clark Dale of Denver, Colorado, died in 1934 and his father died January 6, 1943.
---The funeral was held Sunday, July 29, at 2:00 at the Elmer Baptist Church and Rev. A. T. Rolene officiating. A mixed quartet sang three fitting numbers. The American Legion had charge of the burial which was at the local cemetery. The McCollum funeral directors were in charge. The weather was ideal and one of the largest crowds to attend a funeral here were present to pay their respects to the memory of a friend and citizen. The whole community mourns his passing.
