JOHN GRIFFIN
---John I. Griffin, son of William and Mary Selyvidge Griffin, was born, February 15, 1895, near Eighty Eight in Barren County, Kentucky, and died at his home in Elmer, July 31, 1953, at the age of fifty-eight.
---He was preceded in death by an infant grandson, his parents and three brothers.
---On June 1, 1919 he was married to Miss Luella Wooden who survives. Other survivors are his son, Noland Griffin of Tuscon, Arizona, a daughter, Mrs. Gail Wilson of Elmer, three granddaughters, Linda, Phyllis and Charlotte Wilson; a step-granddaughter, Linda Kay McCarty; four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Ellison of Beals, Kentucky, Mrs. O. V. Conley of Macon, Mrs. E. R. Almond and Mrs. R. C. Johnson of Elmer; a half sister, Mrs. Hettie Davidson of Washington, D. C. and several nieces and nephews.
---When a young man he became a member of the Elmer christian Church and was also a veteran of World War. I.
---Funeral services were held at the Elmer Christian church Sunday afternoon with Rev. Floyd Buntenbach officiating. Burial was in the Elmer Cemetery. The McCollum Funeral Home and the American Legion Post were in charge of arrangements.
