---Henry L. Slaughter, 53, of La Plata died uexpectedly at 6:40 Friday evening (March 30, 1984) in Laughlin Osteopathic Hospital where he had been a patient only a short time.
---Born August 2, 1930, in La Plata, He was the son of Lloyd Edward and Addie Margaret Gonnerman Slaughter. On August 20, 1957, in St. Louis, he married Mary Lu Bullock who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Janet Susan Slaughter of Columbia and two brothers, Dr. E. L. Slaughter of St. Louis and Dr. Bob Slaughter of St. Petersburg, Florida.
---He was preceded in death by his parents.
---Mr. Slaughter was a 1947 graduate of the La Plata High School and attended Northeast Missouri State University. Most of his life was spent engaged in farming east of La Plata.
---Mr. Slaughter served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
---He was a member of the La Plata Lodge No. 237, A.F. and A.M.
---The body was at Pollock Funeral Home, La Plata where Masonic services were held at seven o'clock Sunday evening, April 3, 1984.
---Funeral services were held at ten o'clock Monday morning (April 2, 1984) in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Timothy McClain, pastor of the Community Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. Music was provided by Kenner Bailey, organist. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
---Bearers were: Lloyd Slaughter, Bill Snyder, Michael Kent, David Snyder, Larry Bullock and Mark Slaughter.
