Mrs. Francisca de Abriel died Tuesday at her home across the river. The remains will be buried from the home.
According to another obituary in the Phoenix Daily Herald, she had rescued her child from the Salt River from drowning. She developed a fever and later died. She was the sister of Jesus Maria Melendrez, a well known publisher of a Spanish language newspaper of the time. She may have been born about 1872. Francisca and brother Jesus are living in Arizona on the 1880 census with mother Juana Martinez. An obituary found in 1907 related the mothers name was Senora Dona Concepcion Burruel married to Francisco. Most likely the mother remarried.
