Architect. Schreier was a noted project director who worked on the design for many buildings and structures but is best known for his work on the World Trade Center that once stood in Manhattan, New York, before terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, destroyed it. Born and raised in Michigan, he attended Durfee Junior High School in Detroit, Michigan, and later the University of Michigan School of Architecture, where he graduated in 1956 at the top of his class. He later married his high school sweetheart and began to work for Minoru Yamasaki & Associates in Troy, Michigan. He was later named Vice President and Principal at the firm, and from 1962 to 1972, he worked as project director on the World Trade Center. Schreier also did design work on the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond, Virginia, the Michigan Consolidated Gas Building in Detroit, Michigan, the interior of the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for which he won a federal award for design. In 1994 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he passed away from it on December 3, 2003, at the age of 72, in Beverly Hills, California.
