He was a life resident of Fulton, New York. He operated a practice in general medicine in Fulton from 1931 to 1980. He did his undergraduate work at Syracuse where he played on the varsity football team. He played guard and center from 1921 through 1924. He had an offer to play pro football, but declined. He graduated from medical school in 1929. After two years interning at a hospital in Syracuse, he set up a practice in Fulton, New York. He was a trustee of the Fulton Savings Bank and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Fulton Rotary Club. He was named an SU Letterman of Distinction and received the President's Citation in 1976 from the Medical Society of New York State.
