Pro football player. After graduating from Washington State, he was picked by the Chicago Cardinals in the 24th round of the 1950 NFL draft. Instead of going into the pros, he opted to stay at Washington State and coach freshman football, basketball and baseball. In 1953 he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and played three games at quarterback. He was a football coach for college (Washington State, Oregon State, Stanford, Illinois) and pro teams (Denver Broncos and Houston Oilers) until retiring in 1991.
