Tara was spending six days a week in an Air Force classroom, training for another long assignment overseas, when her father came to visit on one of her rare days off. She was excited about Afghanistan, even then. "She was telling me how happy she was that day, that she was on a history-making mission," Brown's father Jim Jacobs said. "She loved helping people, that's why she was so happy. She was one of nine Americans killed in the incident, making it the deadliest attack on U.S. forces in Afghanistan since 2005. Jacobs, meanwhile, was left stunned by the attack, as his daughter was deployed to teach, not fight. "Who would have ever thought something like that?"
