HOYE ALLEN
Mr. Hoye Laverne (Vern) Allen, 61, of Osceola passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in Bastrop.

He was born September 19, 1944, in Ennis, son of the late Hoye and Hazel Marie Channon Allen. His family moved to the Hillsboro area when he was in the second grade, and he then attended school in Hillsboro and Bynum. February 10, 1964, he entered the United States Marines and served in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart and other medals and accommodations. August 6, 1966, he married Patricia Ann Williams in Hillsboro, and they later moved to Osceola. He worked as a lineman for T P & L for a short time before he began trucking, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends and most of all restoring his 1972 Chevy pickup. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Dale Allen and Alton L. Allen; and one son, Christopher Glenn Allen. Survivors include: his wife, Pat Allen of Osceola; one son, Scott Allen and Lisa of Bynum; one brother, Dick Allen and wife, Eileen, of Azle; one sister, Judy Huddleston of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, K. C., Matt, Ashely, Stetson, Brandon, Dustin and Jeremy; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and cherished dog, Sally. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Kenneth James and Andrew Bell officiating. Burial was at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.
