Gilbert Charles Jokerst, 75, Gerald, died Monday, January 8, 2001, at Gerald Caring Center.
Mr. Jokerst was born at Ste. Genevieve February 26, 1925, the son of Joseph Jokerst and wife Katherine Schmelzle Jokerst.
He received his schooling at Ste. Genevieve.
During World War II Mr. Jokerst served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946.
On September 26, 1953, he was united in marriage to Jeanette Lurk in St. Louis.
They made their home in St. Louis where Mr. Jokerst was employed.
In 1967 the family moved to Union. Mr. Jokerst was employed by Spartan Showcase Company as a supervisor until he retired in 1988.
In 1986 the couple moved to Cuba. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church, Cuba, and V.F.W. Post 7147, Cuba.
Mr. Jokerst was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Hitchcock on August 16, 2000; two brothers, Edgar and Wilfred Jokerst ; and two sisters, Thecla Meyer amd Leona Jokerst.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Jokerst, Cuba; one son, Randy Jokerst and wife Lisa, Union; three daughters, Cheryl Aubuchon and husband Pat, Debbie Williams and husband Jim, and Lisa Kerr and husband Jeff, all of Union; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Marrie Flieg and Florence Kreitler, both of Ste. Genevieve; one brother, Leonard Jokerst, St. Charles; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 11, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
A funeral Mass was held at St; Joseph Church, Neier, with Father Kevin Schmittgens officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
The Jokerst family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
