The 1st of 9 children born to William & Theresa "Moore" Reed.

Sometime between 1854 & 1855 Jame's father packed up the house and moved to Lavaca, TX. They would live there until the 1870's when William moved the family back to Perryville, MO

James would be married twice, first to Catherine Anne Taylor in 1874, she bore James at least 6 and possible 7 children. Son William Monroe Reed and a possible daughter Catherine Ann Reed died as infants. Catherine died prior to 1900. James married his second wife towards the end of his life. His second wife was Theresa Taylor, they were married in 1932.

James death certificate indicates his birth as July 30, 1853

The 1930 Census shows James and I think his Grandson Clyde Reed living with the Allen Family and lists James as the Father-in-Law. I think this is wrong. Just below Clyde is a Theresa (Last name unreadable) and shows her to be Head of House, and a Widow.

James's headstone is missing from Mt. Hope Cemetery, but from records at Brewer's Monument his grave is in Sec 5, Lot 6, Grave 38.
