He was born July 19, 1940, at Oran, son of Joseph and Lena Katherine Koenig Spooler.
Spooler retired as a radioman with the U.S. Navy.
He moved to Oran two months ago from Chula Vista, Calif. He was a past post commander of Chula Vista VFW Post 4630.
Survivors include three sisters, Elizabeth Reischman-Hartman of Chaffee, Mo., Mary Hinkebein of Silex, Mo., and Agnes Moore of Oran.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
