A funeral will be held Friday, November 11th, 2005 for 87-year-old Gerald F. Abt, Sr. of Ste. Genevieve, who died today (Tuesday, November 8th, 2005) at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center.
He was born March 30th, 1918, in Ste. Genevieve, the son of Paul and Mary (Burgert) Abt. They preceded him in death.
He married Anna May (Wolk) Abt June 11th, 1947. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by: three sons and daughters in law, Wayne and Rhonda Abt, Gerald and Eileen Abt, Jr., Joseph and Dianne Abt, all of Ste. Genevieve; a daughter and son in law, Joyce and Albert Gegg of Ste. Genevieve; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by: four brothers, Alphonse, Tony, Joseph Sr., and Peter Abt; four sisters, Margaret Pfaff, Claire Stuppy, Marie Glaser and Theresa Burgert.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Parish, American Legion Post 150, V. F. W. Post 2210, and the Ste. Genevieve Elks 2674.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 10th at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. The American Legion and V. F. W. will gather at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
