Naomi C. Russell, 86, of Lancaster entered into eternal rest Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Lancashire Hall following a lengthy illness.

Born in Rohrerstown she was the daughter of the late Elmer L. and Naomi Ruth McQueney.

A lifelong resident of Lancaster, Naomi worked 27 years at the former Keppel's Candy Factory. She later retired from the former Kerr Glass Company after 18 years of service.

Naomi was an avid Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan, traveling by train, bus, and car to see many games in her lifetime. The most exciting game was the final game of the 1980 World Series when the Phillies won! In her retirement, Naomi enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City trying her luck at the slots. She also loved going to Central Market, meeting friends for coffee and donuts. Her greatest pleasure was being with her family. She attended as many of her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's school functions, sporting events, concerts and recitals as possible while loudly cheering them on.

Naomi is pre-deceased by her parents, eight siblings and her son-in-law. She is survived by three children: David J. of Columbia, Deborah L. Kubala (wife of the late John) of Willow Street, PA, and Dale R., (husband of Donna) of Holtwood; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Ronald E. McQueney of Rohrerstown.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Lancashire Hall for the care that Naomi received. Also a special thank you to Dr. Owen Fox whom Naomi grew to trust, and to Ashleigh Jarema, one of her nurses, whose soft voice and gentle encouragement helped so much during her time living at Lancashire. Many of the aides also need to be thanked for caring, and sometimes doing what may seem to be a very small thing, such as sitting by Naomi's bed and talking with her at night. It meant so very much to her and the family. Bless you all!

Services will be held from the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster on Friday, December 28 at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment in Rohrerstown Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery immediately following the service. To leave an online condolence for the family please visit:
