Major League Baseball Player, Manager, Coach. Born Earle Thaddeus McGillicuddy, the son of Connie Mack, legendary manager and proprietor of the Philadelphia Athletics, he attended Niagara University, before appearing in 5 games with the Athletics, while playing at the first-base, third-base and catcher positions; he recorded 2 hits with a .125 lifetime batting average. He served as a manger in the Class D and Three-I Leagues, before becoming a longtime coach for his father with the Athletics (1924 to 1950), where he experienced three consecutive pennant-winning teams (1929 to 1931), including two World Series titles (1929 and 1930). On two separate occasions, Mack took over managerial duties with the Athletics due to his father's illness; in 1937 compiling a 15 win 17 loss record and in 1939 amassing a 30 win 60 loss tally. He later served as team chief scout.
