Otto Carl Thoreson was born on July 8, 1926 in Roscoe Township, Goodhue County, MN to L. Benjamin and Ella J. (nee Davidson) Thoreson. He attended country school and was Valedictorian of the Wanamingo High School class of 1944. Otto started farming with his parents. On June 5, 1955 he married Alice Thermos in Red Wing. They made their home on the Thoreson Family Farm. They continued to farm until 2010. Otto was proud of the fact that he was born and lived his entire life in the house on the Thoreson Family Farm. Otto also worked at Dayton's for eighteen and one half years. He enjoyed playing softball when he was younger, dancing, listening to old-time music, jigsaw puzzles and puttering on the farm. Otto was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Farmers Union and served on the Roscoe Town Board.
Otto is survived by his wife, Alice; son, James (Taryn) Thoreson of Zumbrota; daughter, Stephanie (Thomas Jordan) Thoreson of Eagan; grandsons, Blake and Colton Thoreson; two nieces and three nephews. Otto was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Stella Thoreson.
