From his obituary in a Sikeston, Mo newspaper clipping: New Madrid, MO: "Hoppy" was a retired farmer, substitute mail carrier, night marshal and police judge. Age 88. Hie wife Nora Alice died in 1962 and son Jesse Jr died in 1971. Survived by daughters Mrs Jran Ben Lankheit of Charleston, Mo and Mrs Clessen Merson of Scott City, Mo; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
