Dear Dad,
I am proud that you were always physically very strong (me too), that you seemed sad that things didn't work out between you and my Mom (me too), that you genuinely loved my half brother and that you and I shared many personality traits (and even our birthday). Your kindnesses toward me when I was grown up are remembered very fondly. I always wanted to dance on top of a man's shoes when I was a little girl...but all the hard knocks you suffered made it so that could never happen. I know now, however, that your hardships and heartaches were much much worse than mine. It was through no fault of your own you were not a conventional father...but I love you as much as anyone loves their Dad.
