Julia Ann Cantrell was born on February 27, 1843 in Mill Creek, Whitfield County, Georgia to Aaron Cantrell and Temperance Brand Davis.
She had two siblings, Frances Cantrell Smith and James R. Phillip Cantrell.
She married Thomas Wright Smith on October 14, 1866. They were blessed with eight children: William Erastus Smith, James Monroe Smith, John Wooten Smith, George Thomas Smith, Andrew W. Smith, Absalom Alonzo "Abb" Smith, Minnie E. Smith and Sarah M.A. (Mattie) Smith.
She died on September 11, 1887 in Arkansas. She was 44 years old.
