My great great great grandfather. Surname is also spelled as Brookshire in some records and by some relatives.

James B. Brookshier was born about 1788 in North Carolina to Mannering Brookshire II and Prudence (maiden name unknown).

He was married to Sarah Graves. They were blessed with fourteen children: Mary Brookshire Berry, Isaac W. Brookshire, Ervin G. Brookshire, Winfred Brookshire Billingsley, Hannah Brookshire Trice, Graves Goodrich Brookshire, Mannering Brookshire, Emaline M. Brookshire Berry Conn, Sarah Lee Brookshire Haynes, Richard Brookshire, Rebecca Brookshire, Alexander James Brookshire, Ellender Jane Brookshire Jolly/Jolley, and Parmelia C. Brookshire.

He died on March 19, 1864. He was 76 years old.
