Ahleen D. Engelstein, 87, of State College, PA, formerly of Syracuse, died Sunday, December 19, 2004, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on January 18, 1917, in Macomb, NY, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Maude Harvey Downing. Until her retirement in 1994, she was a real estate owner/manager in Syracuse, NY. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. She was the last of her generation and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clinton and Harvey Downing; her sister, Betty Alverson; and a son, William D. Scerbo. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Francis A. Scerbo, and her second husband, David Engelstein.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, F. Barry and Linda Scerbo of State College, and three grandchildren, Anthony and Melanie Scerbo of Houston, TX, and Andrew Scerbo of Dallas, TX.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Ogdensburg, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
