A story from Jolene Chapman...

Grandpa Mike flew Paula and me into Denver to surprise mom for New Year's 1980. Duane and Mike already resided here and it would be the first time all of us had been together since before Duane went to prison. In the midst of the reunion, on January 4th, Zebadiah was delivered many months prematurely. He was so itty bitty.

I remember Colorado General (now the University of Colorado Medical Center) saying that they had never had such a small young preemie live. Everyone cheered Zeb on. Everyone prayed. Everyone believed. He lived far beyond what medical science said he would. Little Zeb went home to be with the Lord before Duane's birthday would roll around on the second of February.

Perhaps to fill the void caused by Zebadiah's departure, in Our Father's tender mercies, He sent another little son Duane's way just a little over nine months later. On November 14, 1980, the family would welcome another "little bit of Heaven" named after Grandfather Wesley Duane Chapman.

Zebadiah, like every other baby or child that has died, has been raised in Heaven by the Angels. I am sure his prayers and anticipation is to meet his entire family one day so that the circle will not be broken.

A song we learned in Children's Church:

Into my heart,
Into my heart,
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.
Come in today, come in to stay,
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

Gravesite Details

Zebadiah is buried in a place for babies. There is not a headstone at this time, but that should change in the future.
