Michael Stanley was born Sept. 20, 1959, at Ladysmith, the son of William and Adeline (Gutowski) Villiard. he grew up and attended school in Radisson and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Of the various jobs he had throughout his life, he worked for Sun Ray Solar Systems in Radisson, Radisson Ready Mix, was a logger, worked farming for many years, and worked for McNaulty Water and Sewer in Minneapolis. On Aug. 9, 1986, he was united in marriage to Lisa Hjelm in Radisson. Together they owned and operated the Village Kitchen and B & M Bait Shop in Radisson from 1982-1991. Mike was a constable in Radisson in 1983 and 1984, before becoming Sawyer County Sheriff Deputy in 1985. He loved to hunt, fish, and trap and was a member of the Association of SWAT Personnel--Wisconsin; was a member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association; was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
