Zearn Stringer, 92 years of age, of Hawthorne, Florida, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, August 9th, 2008 at his home.
Zearn was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on April 9th, 1916, son of the late Frank Pierce Stringer and Lilly Lay Stringer. He was a retired mechanic, World War II Army Veteran, and of the Protestant faith.
Zearn was survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Georgia Ruth Davenport Stringer, whom he married in Harlan, Kentucky on June 10th, 1940; two sons, Thomas (and Jodi) Stringer of Marietta, Georgia and Frank (and Kathy) Stringer of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Joyce (and Anthony) Owens of Seminole, Florida; two sisters, Darlene Bradley of Ohio and Patsy Fogel of South Carolina; six brothers, Hawk Lewis Stringer of Ohio, Vern Bryce Stringer, Frink Howard Stringer, Virl D. Stringer, Jim Bruce Stringer, and Gerald Stringer, all of Somerset, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Tonya Nease, Travis Owens, Tracey Mouring, Nicholas Stringer, and Kyle Stringer; five great grandchildren, Laren Nease, Braden Nease, Graylan Owens, Quinton Owens, and Christian Joel Mouring; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Zearn was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Pierce Stringer, who departed this life on March 30th, 1984 and Lilly Lay Stringer; three brothers, Cecil Stringer, who departed this life on July 5th, 2003, Quantrell Stringer, who departed this life on January 11th, 1976, and Roy Lee Stringer, who departed this life on January 29th, 1970.; and his step-mother, Edrie Butler Stringer, who departed this life on March 24th, 1966.
Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15th, 2008 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral service were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16th, 2008 in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Wayne Stringer officiating.
Burial followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Kentucky with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post No. 38 Honor Guard.
