World War II veteran. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and obtained the rank of Major. He was based in England with the Eighth Air Force, and was a B-17 operations officer. He flew in excess of 35 combat missions over occupied territory in the European Theater of Operations.
On his last mission, his plane was hit by enemy fire and he was forced to crash land in France and suffered severe injuries. His plane's waist gunner was killed.
For his exploits during the war, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with two Oak Clusters.
He died in a C-47 plane crash on September 10, 1947.
