Joseph Dale Crawford was adopted by Joseph Leo and Florence E. Crawford on October 15, 1923. His birth name was Gerald Dale Carpenter. His birth mother was Letha L. Carpenter.

Obituary: Jeddo-Joseph Dale Crawford Sr.,66, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 14, 1989, in St. John's Hopsital in Detroit. He was born February 2, 1923 in Grayling and had been an area resident for most of his life. He married Edna R. Kerckhove Feb. 13, 1943 in Detroit.

Mr. Crawford retired from Acheson Colloids Company and farming. He was a member of St. Edwards on-the-Lake Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid golfer and a former Little League coach.

He is survived by his wife;four daughters and sons-in-law, Diane(Jeffrey) Valentovic of Flint, Darlene (James) Kinney of Emmett, Christine (Wayne) Stanislowski of North Street and Renee (Patrick) Keeler of Port Huron; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Dale (LuAnn) Crawford Jr. of Jeddo; 10 grandchildren.

Services at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the Jowett Funeral Home, 1634 Lapeer Avenue at 17th Street, two blocks east of the Mueller Brass Company, and at 10 .am. at St. Edwards on-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Esper, pastor of St. Edwards on-the-Lake Catholic Church, will officiate.

Visiting is 2-4 and 7-9 a.m. today. Pallbearers will be James Kinney, Wayne Stanislowski, Pat Keeler, Patrick Kinney, Jeffrey Valentovic and Greg Kinney. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to the Junior Sports Program.
