Mr. Michael J. "Pat" Kinney 70, of Emmett, died unexpectedly Friday, August 6, 1993 at his home.

He was born October 23, 1922 in Emmett, son of Ambrose and Mary Mahar Kinney. His marriage to Alice Bleau was in Port Huron on August 23, 1947.

Mr Kinney was a former employee of Dunn Paper and Port Huron Sulfate (now E.B. Eddy Co.) and retired in 1980 after 26 years at Pontiac Motors as a pipe fitter. He served his country 3 years in W.W.II with the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy in a tank battalion; fought in 9 major campaigns and received 5 bronze and 1 silver star and a Distinguished Unit Badge from President Truman.

He was a charter member and Past Commander (1973-74) of Gleason-Butler V.F.W. Post #5585, Emmett and parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmer Catholic Church and 3rd degree member of Fr. Farrell K. of C. #7819.

Surviving in additional to his wife Alice is a son and daugher-in-law, James and Darlene of Emmett and son Richard of Port Huron; daughters and sons-in-law, Nell and Daniel Schmidt of Emmett, Kathryn and Duane Robison of Marysville, Mary Therese and Richard Herriman and Karen and Daniel Taylor both of Port Huron and Joanne and Todd Kowalkowski, Deerfield, WI; granchildren Patrick, Gregory, and Jaime Kinney, Scott and Jason Schmidt, Kerrie and Jaime Robison, Becky, Brian and Stacy Herriman, Nicole and Jessica Kinney, Lauren and Jacob Taylor and Tyler Kowalkowski; three sisters, Sister Mary Kinney I.H.M., Lucy Renno and Margaret Kinney; brothers John and Michael L. and many nieces, nephews and counsins. He is preceded in death by a brother Gerald and sister Rita Tipa and two infant sisters and nephews Bill Kinney and Larry Schneider.

A parish scripture service will be at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Kaatz Funeral Home, Avoca and funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Emmett. Fr. Jasper Siranni, pastor will officiate. V.F.W. Post #5585 will conduct military graveside honors at Our Lady of mt. Carmel Cemetery, Emmett.
