Olive Maynard Sutherland, 81, of Lynn Township, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Medilodge of Yale. Olive Stroud was born December 4, 1929 in Wilsondale, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Allen Stroud and Brookie Almeda Parsley. Olive married Jay C. Maynard on November 3, 1948 and raised a family of eight children in the Romeo and Allenton area. Jay passed away June 9, 1981 in Sebewaing, MI. Olive married Willard Howard Sutherland on September 4, 1984 in Virginia. He passed away on December 17, 1991 in Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by five daughters: Brookie G. ( John ) Tamba of Lynn Township, Loretta ( Stanley ) Boven of Brown City, Carrie A. Maynard of Northville, Mary E. ( Butch ) Rushton of Kimball and Christine ( Peter ) Filman of Petawawa, Ontario. two sons: Jay C. ( Vera ) Maynard, Jr. of Sebewaing, and Allen J. Maynard of Sebewaing. sisters: Genevieve Wallace of Loxahatchee, FL, Marie Dillon of Cookville, TN, Eva ( Robert ) Smith of Somerset. KY, and Elizabeth ( William ) Marcum of South Point, OH. brothers: James ( Betty ) Stroud of Frankfort, OH, and Orville ( Hazel ) Stroud of Grayson, KY. Beloved Mamaw to 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Olive is preceded in death by her husbands Willard Howard Sutherland and Jay C. Maynard, son: George Maynard on September 25, 1971; brothers: John B. Stroud ( 1942 ) , Wayne Stroud ( 2000 ); sisters Lora King ( 2003 ) , Edna Mae Mills ( 2011 ) and her parents Allen and Brookie Stroud. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Imlay City. Chaplin Max Amstutz will officiate. Burial will follow at West Berlin Cemetery in Allenton, MI. Pall Bearers will be her grandsons: John Tamba, Jamie and Ronald Boven, Scott Dudley, Jay C. Maynard III, and Lee Rushton.
