David was the oldest of two children born to Richard Benjamin and Janet Irene Rainey. He married Margaret Crossman and they had three children: Martha A. David Ross, and Sarah Linn.

David Townsend Rainey, age 71, of Wimberley, passed away Saturday, February 8, 1997.
Born on April 4, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Rainey grew up in Houston. He graduated from Rice University in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946 and from 1951 to 1952.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Crossman Rainey, of Wimberley; a son, Ross Rainey, and daughter, Martha Lockard, of Wimberley; and a daughter, Sarah Burka and husband, Paul, of Austin. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Mandi Lockard, Whitney Lockhard, Janet Burka, Joel Burka and Barrett Burka.
Funeral services, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, are scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 1997, and graveside at 1:00 p.m., at the Wimberley Cemetey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Central Texas at 1345 Thorpe Lane, San Marcos, TX 78666.
