Son of Reuben Meshach Browning and Sarah Elizabeth Vandervoort Browning.

He was a young man with prominence in Bloomington, Illinois.

He was for several years superintendent of the Bloomington-Normal Railway Company. He resigned that position in 1909 and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma starting a fruit ranch there.

He later moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for health reasons.
