Graciela Obdulia Augusto de Mariani, born on December 30, 1928, experienced a fateful twist in her life when she unexpectedly joined the passengers of the Farichild 571 airplane. Originally, her intention was to travel to Chile for her daughter's wedding via a conventional flight.

Mrs. Mariani took advantage of an available seat on the rugby players' flight, deeming it a more economical option than her initial plan. Despite being unfamiliar with the other passengers, she chose to embark on this alternative journey.

Tragically, Graciela Augusto passed away on October 14, 1972, at the age of 43. Following the crash, she became entangled in the wreckage of seats that had collided with the luggage compartment. Despite the survivors' attempts to aid and release her, their efforts were regrettably unsuccessful. Mrs. Mariani endured a night of agonizing screams, with her cries gradually fading away. She ultimately succumbed at noon the next day.

In the film "La Sociedad de la Nieve" ("The Society of Snow"), actress Tea Alberti portrays Graciela Mariani, immortalizing her story on the silver screen.
