Nekoosa Mill Worker Killed in Accident

E. FLEAS CAUGHT
IN ROLLERS OF
REWIND MACHINE

22-YEAR-OLD WORKMAN
DRAWN INTO REEL ON NO. 3
MACHINE WHEN HAND IS
CAUGHT; DEATH IS INSTAN-
TANEOUS.

Drawn into the reel of the rewind-
er on number 3 machine at the Nekoosa
mill of the Nekoosa-Edwards
Paper company when his hand
caught in the machine, Evaristes
Fleas, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake
Fleas, Nekoosa, was instantly killed
at 9:50 o'clock this morning. He
was taking the paper from the bottom
to the top reel when the accident
occurred...
The fatal accident was witnessed
by Gregory Goretcki, back tender on
the machine; Roy Johnson, third
hand; Clarence Schmidt, roll plug-
ger, and J. W. Youngchild, superin-
tendent of the Nekoosa mill, all of
whom were standing but a few feet
from Fleas at the time of the mis-
hap.
Mr. Fleas had been employed on
the paper machines of the Nekoosa-
Edwards Paper company since July
30, 1929.
--Funeral Arrangements Incomplete--
Funeral arrangements had not
been completed today, but will be
announced tomorrow.
Besides his parents, he leaves to
mourn his two brothers, Nolan
and Bernard, and three sisters,
Margaret, Geraldine and Mrs. Ar-
villa Luchinski, all of Nekoosa.
